This ultra–lightweight 308 was built in August 1983 by Michelotto with full Ferrari Factory support to Group B specifications for events such as the Tour de France, the Targa Florio and other rallies. Ferrari 308 GTB Group B Rally car s/n 22409 was campaigned by the Italian Rally team Pro Motor Sport and was very successful in multiple major rallies, winning the Marca Trevigiani and Città de Bassano, driven by Giulio and Pasutti respectively, coming in second in both the Targa Florio and Isola d'Elba driven by Battistolli; and second again in the Príncipe de Asturias driven by Tognana.
308 GTB s/n 22409 is one of only 15 Michelotto built lightweights eligible for events such as the Tour de France and the North American Ferrari Maserati Challenge. Fitted with a Michelotto built light weight frame and a lightweight steel body, 308 GTB s/n 22409 weights only 980 kilos or 2250 pounds and is powered by a 4–valve engine that can be tuned up to 400 hp and, more important, has a great torque curve. Fitted with four pot Brembo brakes, a pure race non–synchro gearbox and a limited slip (80%) ZF rear end running on lightweight modular 3–piece wheels, this lightweight Ferrari is race ready and well sorted. During the 2005 Ferrari Maserati race series Wayne Obry’s Motion Products rebuilt the gearbox in March, 2005 and the engine in May, 2005, so 308 GTB Michelotto s/n 22409 is well sorted and ready to go.
